Preferred Drug List
During the 2007 legislative session, the Utah State Legislature passed Senate Bill 42 allowing Medicaid to adopt a preferred drug list (PDL). The Medicaid Preferred Drug List continues to expand on a monthly basis. All preferred drugs and diabetic supplies are NDC specific. Please refer to the PDL Spreadsheet located at the bottom of this page for a list of preferred NDC's.
Reminder: When overriding the PDL, presrcibers must hand write "Dispense As Written - Medically Necessary" on the prescription on the prescription, and document medical necessity in the patient's chart
