Bicycle Helmet Useage Rates

The Utah Department of Health Violence and Injury Prevention Program has conducted yearly helmet observational surveys since 1994. Data is collected both "on-site" at 20 randomly selected elementary schools across Utah as well as in their surrounding neighborhoods. This data is used to determine helmet use among the following age groups:

Preschool-age (ages 0-4),
Elementary school-age (ages 5-11),
Secondary school-age (ages 12-18, and
Adults (ages 19+).
