Select Health

Select Health is the epitome of a company who exhibits a strong wellness plan.  Employees at Select Health have access to monthly electronic newsletters and an internal wellness website which gives them health tips and information on upcoming events and programs.  Employees can also fill out a personal wellness profile online and receive a personalized report immediately.

Select Health, a 2006 Platinum Healthy Worksite Award Winner, also has two annual programs called the Summer Slim Down and the Holiday Weigh In.  During the Holiday Weigh In, employees are formed into teams in November and they weigh in.  Come January, the teams weigh in again and the results are gathered.  In the 2006 Holiday Weigh In, Select Health Employees lost a total of 7,278 pounds.  After the Holiday Weigh In program one employee stated “I participate because it keeps me accountable for my calories during the holidays.  I think about what I am putting in my mouth.”

              As a result of Select Health’s wellness programs employees claimed to have more energy and better self image, which has lead to healthier and happier employees.  Select Health has also engrained wellness in their corporate structure by providing new employees with information on the wellness program during new hire orientation.
